The Goodyear welt (or Goodyear stitched construction) is a double stitching. The first stitch joins the upper, the insole and the welt (a small strip of leather placed between two layers of leather to reinforce the seam), and a second stitch attaches the welt to the outsole. The Goodyear welt is synonymous with very high-end quality and allows the boot to be resoled.
