The Goodyear welt (or Goodyear stitching) is a double seam. The first seam joins the upper, the insole and the welt (a small strip of leather placed between two layers of leather to reinforce the seam), and a second seam joins the welt to the outsole. Goodyear construction is synonymous with very high-end craftsmanship and allows for resoling.
